Yuan Up / Atto 2 Windscreen and Camera Replacement Checks

A clean new windscreen can improve a Yuan Up's appearance while leaving important fitment questions unanswered. Glass, camera brackets and any associated sensors must match the installed equipment. A warning-free dashboard alone does not verify repair quality. Assess the replacement as a complete job: correct parts, sound installation and whatever inspection or calibration the applicable repair procedure requires. Do not assume every Yuan Up or Atto 2 has the same assistance hardware.

Establish why the glass was replaced

Ask for the date, reason and invoice. An isolated stone impact differs from glass removed during roof, pillar or collision repair, but neither explanation should be accepted without supporting evidence. Inspect accessible surrounding trim, paint edges and seals without dismantling safety-related components yourself. Use the accident and repair checks if the account conflicts with visible work. A replacement windscreen does not automatically mean a serious accident; equally, a seller's claim of a minor chip should not close unexplained pillar repairs or cabin water entry.

Match the glass to the actual equipment

Have a competent glass or vehicle specialist verify the VIN-specific part application, including the relevant camera or sensor mounting arrangement. Similar dimensions or a matching badge do not establish optical and equipment compatibility. Record markings and the fitted part identifier where available, and distinguish the installed component from the part originally quoted. The market and version specification guide helps frame the equipment question. Do not transfer a foreign Atto 2 catalogue entry to a Yuan Up without confirmation from a source able to support that application.

Inspect workmanship without disturbing the bond

Look for uneven trim seating, visible adhesive irregularities, loose covers, distortion in the driver's view and signs of moisture inside. Ask the installer about required curing and safe-use conditions rather than applying a universal waiting time. Do not push the glass, remove bonded trim or direct high-pressure water at the edges as an improvised test. An agreed professional inspection can assess sealing and fit using suitable methods. Keep photographs of concerns before cosmetic correction, because cleaning a stain may remove a useful clue without addressing the leak.

Check the camera and sensor work order

If a forward camera or other relevant sensor is fitted, establish whether it was disturbed and which manufacturer procedure applied to the repair. Request the associated pre- and post-work checks and calibration record when required. A generic invoice line saying ADAS checked is weaker than a record identifying the vehicle, equipment and result. Do not infer correct aiming from the absence of warnings. Any calibration requirement should be determined by the applicable procedure and competent workshop, not by whether the seller noticed a problem on a short drive.

Include the visibility functions drivers use daily

Confirm wiper operation, washer coverage and any fitted rain-sensing function under appropriate controlled conditions. Inspect for streaking or optical distortion from the normal seating position, not only while standing outside. Check that mirror housings and camera covers are secure and do not obstruct the driver's view. Review the climate and demisting checks where condensation is a concern. A visibility complaint can involve glass, cleaning products, wipers or climate operation; identify the cause before ordering another windscreen.

Use a road test only within safe limits

A qualified driver can assess ordinary visibility and normal system behaviour on a lawful route after the vehicle is declared safe to use. Do not stage a collision threat, drive at an obstacle or rely on assistance to compensate for an unresolved repair. Record the conditions and any messages rather than using vague claims that everything works. If intervention feels abnormal or a relevant warning appears, stop the assessment and return to professional diagnosis. A road test supplements the repair evidence; it cannot replace required calibration or structural assessment.

Resolve the overseas repair route before shipment

Ask whether the destination has a correctly matched windscreen and a workshop able to perform the necessary equipment checks. Include transport, trim, installation and calibration where applicable in the quotation, not just the glass price. If the repair will be completed before export, agree which records the buyer receives and whether independent verification is needed. An unresolved optical or safety-related defect is not an appropriate item to dismiss as a small arrival task. Connect the result to the vehicle acceptance inspection before authorising handover.

Buyer checklist

  • Record replacement reason and surrounding repair evidence.
  • Verify the installed glass and sensor application.
  • Obtain required calibration and workmanship records.
  • Confirm destination parts and qualified installation support.

Questions and answers

Does replacement glass make the vehicle unsuitable?

Not automatically. A correctly specified, competently installed and properly verified replacement can be acceptable. The concern is missing evidence, incorrect parts or unresolved structural, visibility or sensor issues.

Is a warning-free dashboard enough?

No. Some installation or aiming problems may not produce a clear warning. Use the applicable repair procedure and qualified checks, including calibration where required, rather than relying solely on dashboard status.
