Inventory every supplied access item
Ask for a written list of physical remotes, emergency keys and any supported card or digital access item supplied with the exact vehicle. Test items individually according to the applicable instructions, keeping the other keys away enough to avoid a misleading demonstration. A photo of two similar remotes does not show that both start the car. Record missing items and the seller's explanation. Where local replacement support is uncertain, establish the cost and feasibility before purchase rather than assuming an overseas Atto 2 dealer can program every China-market Yuan Up key.
Separate mechanical entry from electronic authorisation
Have the seller or qualified technician demonstrate the approved emergency access procedure without damaging covers, seals or handles. Check ordinary lock, unlock and start behaviour as separate functions. A weak key battery can cause intermittent operation, but it is not proof that every failure is harmless. Use the 12V and wake-up checks when vehicle power may be involved. Do not publish security codes or ask for bypass instructions. Any immobiliser, lost-key or ownership-verification work belongs with a competent authorised service provider.
Do not treat app access as proof of transferable ownership
Ask which connected services are supported for the specific market and what their ownership-transfer process requires. A demonstration on the seller's already logged-in phone may rely on their identity, number or subscription. It does not prove you can register the car abroad. Review the market identity and preserve the distinction between confirmed local vehicle functions and unconfirmed remote services. Do not accept a shared account, fabricated address or unofficial software change as a substitute for a supported transfer process.
Arrange account release before final acceptance
Where the manufacturer provides a supported transfer route, establish who must initiate it, what legitimate ownership evidence is needed and how completion is confirmed. Keep personal passwords and verification codes private. Ask the previous owner to remove personal profiles and stored destinations through the documented process after required inspection evidence has been preserved. Avoid indiscriminate resets that erase useful records or leave the vehicle unable to complete setup. If account release cannot be demonstrated, list the exact limitation in the agreement instead of describing the vehicle as fully transferred.
Assess missing-key risk with the destination workshop
A missing remote creates both a replacement question and a control question: could an unaccounted item still access the vehicle? Ask a qualified provider what can be checked and whether absent keys can be removed from the authorised set through supported procedures. Obtain a VIN-specific quotation that separates hardware, programming, transport and diagnostic work. Do not assume a matching remote housing means matching electronics. The parts and service guide provides the broader support checks, including whether the destination has the necessary equipment and lawful access.
Protect access during transport and collection
Agree how keys travel, how the carrier identifies the correct set and which items stay separate from the vehicle. Record custody at each handover without exposing key codes in widely shared paperwork. The carrier needs the applicable operational instructions, including any documented release process, rather than a generic EV note. Reconcile the list at collection before leaving the receiving location. A missing card discovered weeks later is harder to investigate than a discrepancy recorded immediately against the shipping handover file.
Make limitations visible in the buying decision
Classify each function as demonstrated, supported but awaiting completion, unavailable at the destination or unverified. This lets you decide whether physical usability is sufficient even when remote climate control or other services remain unavailable. Do not price an unconfirmed app benefit as included equipment. Recheck any claim after a changed vehicle or software intervention. Preserve a private final inventory and the support contact, while excluding passwords and security credentials from the general enquiry form. The objective is a controllable vehicle, not merely a successful one-time unlock video.
Buyer checklist
- Test each supplied key separately.
- Confirm supported account transfer without sharing passwords.
- Price and resolve missing-key implications.
- Reconcile the access inventory when custody changes.
Questions and answers
Can I keep using the seller’s app account?
That is not a satisfactory ownership handover. It leaves access and recovery under another person's control and may conflict with service terms. Use a supported transfer route where available or record the service as unavailable.
Will an overseas dealer replace a China-market key?
Ask the intended provider using the VIN and original market. Parts availability, programming support and ownership checks vary; the Atto 2 name alone does not establish support for a Yuan Up.
